Abstract:Based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations(RANS) and k-ω two-equation turbulence model,the interior flow field in a self-built self-priming vortex pump has been numerically simulated by using FlUENT software.The pressure-velocity fields are coupled and solved by the SIMPLEC algorithm.From the analyses and comparison between the numerical results and the measurement data,characteristics from the five-hole probe static pressure pump experiment are obtained.Explanations are given for the occurrence of cavitations and vortexes in longitudinal and radial directions in the vortex pump.The total pressure and velocity distribution in the self-priming vortex pump are obtained,and the relationship between pressure,flux and the pressure changing trend along the pump circumference are deduced as well.The characteristic of pressure non-linear increase along the pump circumference is useful for the optimum design of the self-priming vortex pump.
