Numerical Simulation of Flow Field in Low-specific-speed Centrifugal Pump

Abstract:This paper has carried on a numerical simulation to the three dimensional flow inside the low-specific-speed centrifugal pump impeller by using the computation hydromechanics software Fluent.The simulation results under different operating modes are very identical with the actual situations.Through the analysis of the pressure field,the authors proposed a succinct method for the judgment of whether there is a new cavitation on the impeller and the way to compute the essential cavitation remainder △hr.Through the analysis of the velocity field,it confirmed the design method of enlarging flow rate from another angle.At the same time it also provides a reliable way for analyzing the water pump′s performance and the optimal design plan.
