Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between the lesion site of acute ischemic stroke(AIS) and ECG changes. Methods Systematic review was carried out on 151 patients with AIS diagnosed by MRI or CT. The abnormality rate of ECG and the incidence of atrial arrhythmia were compared among the patients with AIS at different sites. In addition,112 cases of abnormal ECG changes were analyzed statistically, and furthermore, in these abnormal ECGs, the incidence of sinus bradycardia in stroke at the brainstem and other sites was compared. Results Multiplesite stroke was more likely to lead to abnormal ECG changes while the incidence of abnormal ECG changes of stroke at the lobe of brain was the lowest. However, statistical analysis of atrial arrhythmia in AIS patients indicated that multiplesite stroke and stroke at the lobe of brain were both prone to be complicated by atrial arrhythmia. Sinus bradycardia was more commonly seen in the patients with AIS at the brainstem and its incidence significantly varied from that of other types of stroke(P<0.05). Conclusion ECG abnormalities are more likely to be found in AIS patients whom should be given strengthened monitoring on and suggested measures for heart protection.
