Abstract:ObjectiveTo observe the distributive characteristics of patients with palpitation in the population and the changes of ambulatory
electrocardiography(AECG).MethodsThe observation objects were 290 patients with palpitation as a chief complaint who had been treated by our hospital from
September 2016 to September 2017. They were divided into three groups by age: young group(18-39 years old), middleaged group(40-59 years old) and elderly
group(≥60 years old). All the patients underwent 24hour AECG monitoring and analysis of heart rate variability(HRV). The occurrence of palpitation was
compared among groups and so did the results of AECG examination and HRV analysis.ResultsIn the middleaged and elderly groups, the incidences of
palpitation were higher than that in young group(P<0.05) and females were more likely to suffer from palpitation than males(P<0.05); the incidence of
palpitation complicating arrhythmia increased if compared with that in young group(P<0.05); the average heart rate, SDNN, SDANN and pNN50 were all lower than
those in young group with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference of rMMSD among the three groups.
Reducing SDNN was observed in parts of patients with normal AECG results. ConclusionThe incidence of palpitation and detection rate of arrhythmia
significantly increase with age while HRV shows a decreasing trend. For parts of palpitation patients, although no obvious AECG abnormality is found, HRV
analysis indicates varying degrees of autonomic nerve function damage.
