Abstract:Objective To explore the value of ECG scatterplot in diagnosing junctional premature beat. Methods Two cases of ambulatory electrocardiography(AECG) were selected in our study which were misdiagnosed as frequent atrial premature beats(APB) and paired APB. The characteristics of their scatterplots were analyzed and the previous diagnostic conclusions were modified by the reversal technique. Results The scatterplot of one case was suited to the scatterplot features of frequent ventricular premature beats(VPB) while the other was in agreement with those of ventricular pararrhythmia complicating interpolated VPB. The original diagnostic conclusions were modified into frequent junctional premature beat and interpolated junctional premature beat combining the reversal technique. Conclusion The scatterplot characteristics of junctional premature beat and interpolated junctional premature beat were similar to those of frequent and interpolated VPB, respectively. ECG scatterplot serves as a “secret weapon” to distinguish between junctional premature beat and APB.
