Abstract:To design and develop an experimental stand for a pump as turbine, the current situations of experimental stand for a pump as turbine both abroad and in China are analyzed, and the advantages and disadvantages of these stands are summarized. By means of basic knowledge of pump as turbine and experimental techniques for fluid machinery, an experimental stand for a centrifugal pump as turbine is designed and built, in which the experimental data can be acquired either manually or automatically. A few experiments are carried out by using manual and automatic data acquiring methods, respectively; the advantages and drawbacks of two methods are analyzed comparatively. It is shown that two methods can obtain the hydraulic performance of a pump as turbine precisely and can produce relia-ble experimental performance data. The experimental stand with the automatic data acquisition system is designed even more reasonably, easily operated and can fit a wider range of flow rate. The stand has a very important significance in study on a pump as turbine.
