Recently, the National Ethnic Affairs Commission (NEAC) organized the fifth session of its Award for Research Achievements in Social Sciences (papers and monographs category). The article “On the Three Dimensions of Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation”, published in our journal, has won the Third Prize in the paper category.

To thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on strengthening and improving ethnic affairs work, further advance theoretical research on the Chinese national community, develop China’s independent systems of historical materials, discourse, and theory concerning the Chinese national community, and consolidate the ideological and political foundations for building the Chinese national community, the NEAC organized the fifth session of the Award for Research Achievements in Social Sciences (papers and monographs category), to which 460 institutions of higher learning and research institutes across the country submitted a total of 2,047 applications.

After preliminary review, second review, expert re-examination by the evaluation committee, final review, and public notice, a total of 253 achievements were awarded: 6 first prizes (3 monographs and 3 papers), 61 second prizes (21 monographs and 40 papers), and 186 third prizes (73 monographs and 113 papers).

Our journal will cherish this honor and continue to strive for excellence. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we will thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on strengthening and improving ethnic affairs work and focus closely on the main line of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. We will advance ethnic studies in adherence to the correct orientation of the “Two Integrations” (integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and with China’s fine traditional culture), persist in independent scholarship grounded in China’s own context, persist in problem orientation, and persist in upholding fundamental principles while breaking new ground, so as to provide ever stronger academic support and theoretical underpinning for forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and for advancing the building of the Chinese national community.
