Abstract:Objective: To investigate the expression of chemokine receptor CXCR4 in gastric carcinoma and evaluate its relationship with clinicpathological features, prognosis and tumor markers. Methods: A total of 62 patients with radical resection of gastric cancer were enrolled. The expression of CXCR4 in gastric carcinoma tissues and paracancerous tissue was detected by immunohistochemical staining. The relationship of the expression of CXCR4 with preoperative tumor markers, the clinicopathological features, postoperative survival were evaluated. Results: The expression of CXCR4 was both detected in gastric cancer tissues and paracancerous tissue, but the positive expression rate of CXCR4 in gastric carcinoma was 82.3%(51/62) that was significantly higher than that in paracancerous tissue[62.9%(39/62),P=0.016]. The expression level of CXCR4 in gastric cancer was correlated with tumor depth, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P=0.08), but had no significant relationship with the sex, age, tumor size and differentiation of patients (P>0.05). Survival rate of patients with CXCR4 expression strong was significantly lower than that of patients with weak CXCR4 expression. There was no significant correlation between CXCR4 positive expression and serum carcinoembryonic antigen and CA199 values(P>0.05). Conclusion: The high expression of CXCR4 in gastric cancer is significantly related to the biological behavior of gastric cancer and more significantly related to the stage of tumor development and the prognosis.
