Abstract:Both Luxun and Pearl S.Buck are writers who are deeply concerned with Chinese peasants. They share a lot in their political attitude, religious beliefs, family ideology, pains and rural women's tragedy. Nevertheless, owing to their different literary backgrounds, angles of viewing the society, focuses of reality etc., their works of the peasant life present two distinct artistic styles. As an enlightenment master, Lu Xun focuses on the real cause of the backwardness of the Chinese countryside, revealing the inferior temperament of Chinese peasants, while Pearl S. Buck, a writer of Western origin, cherishes affection and appreciation for Chinese peasants, by depicting their rich inner world of sturdiness and selfindependence.
