Abstract:In English, “natural right” denotes not only “rights”, but “correctness” as well. By discussing the Latin words of ‘ius’ and ‘lex’ used by the Enlightenment thinkers, we can find the change of mans status hidden behind the words. This change led to the evolution of the concept of “natural rights” from natural law to Gods will, and back to man as moral subject. The natural right acquired new meanings and led finally to a concept of human rights.
