Breaking, construction and collaboration: reflection on "Breaking the Five Only" in the era of generative artificial intelligence

Abstract:Generative artificial intelligence represented by ChatGPT, with its revolutionary technological innovation, has significantly affected the current academic evaluation reform in universities, which aims to "Breaking the Five Only". The natural humanmachine interaction mode and the deep learning ability of generative artificial intelligence can improve traditional inefficient scientific research methods, promote the academic evaluation of colleges and universities to broaden the evaluation dimension. Meanwhile, the high quality of artificial intelligence generative content weakened the authority of "academic papers", thereby formed the trend of breaking "the Five Only" system. On this basis, relying on new digital intelligence technology, generative artificial intelligence has demonstrated strong information grabbing, data integration, and correlation analysis capabilities during the courses of data collection, analysis, and feedback, which can effectively solve the evaluating difficulties of new academic evaluation methods in data collection and processing, and promote its reconstruction and implementation. The potential of generative artificial intelligence technology in "Breaking the Five Only" is promising, but the risks and shortcomings in institutional, technological, and application aspects cannot be ignored. Relevant management departments, universities, evaluation institutions, and technology companies need to collaborate with intelligent machines to improve quality and efficiency by introducing policy guidance and institutional supervision, promoting infrastructure construction and disciplinary development, revising thinking patterns and working methods in the process of adapting new technologies and transforming old systems.
