Abstract:The temperature rise and distribution of Ni-MH battery pack during its charging and discharging were studied. Considering the larger initial charging current due to the battery temperature rise a phased constant current charging control strategy was proposed. By analyzing the theoretical temperature fields model, the cooling structure of the original battery pack was optimized, and a phased joint control of constant current charging strategy was proposed. Then, a simulation of the battery thermal management control method was conducted and a test bench was setup about the battery pack temperature fields in the computing environment of Matlab/Simulink and Fluent. The test results verifed the advantages of the battery thermal management control method that we proposed.
