Abstract: The flexural behavior of eight HRB500 rebar reinforced concrete beams was compared with that of two ordinary rebar reinforced beams basing on crack distribution, crack width and deflection. The results indicate that the flexural behavior and deflection mode of test beams with HRB500 rebar are basically consistent with those of ordinary rebar reinforced concrete beams. Under the serviceability limit state, average crack spacing and midspan deflection are equivalent to the calculation values according to formulas in GB 50010—2002. However, most of calculated shortterm maximum crack width are larger than measured values. According to the test results, the normal formula of crack width should be revised by decreasing guarantee radio for maximum crack width and modifying calculated stress of rebar.
