Abstract:Objective: To observe the expression of N-myc downstream regulated gene1(NDRG1), P21 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in lung-adenocarcinoma tissue, and to elucidate the mechanism of lung adenocarcinoma invasion and metastasis. Methods: The expressions of NDRG1, P21 and VEGF were detected by immunohistochemistry in 20 cases of normal lung tissue and in 94 cases of lung adenocarcinoma tissue. The correlation among NDRG1, P21 and VEGF expressions in lung adenocarcinoma tissue was investigated by Spearman rank correlation analysis. The relationship between NDRG1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics was investigated by Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis. Results: In normal lung tissue and lung adenocarcinoma tissue, the positive immunoreactivity rate of NDRG1 was 90.0%(18/20) and 52.1%(49/94),respectively; P21 was 80.0%(16/20) and 33.0%(31/94), respectively; VEGF was 20.0%(4/20) and 53.2%(50/94), respectively. The expressions of NDRG1 and P21 was negatively correlated with lymphatic metastasis, while the expression of VEGF was positively correlated with lymphatic metastasis. Univariate survival analysis indicated that the expressions of NDRG1, P21 and VEGF were associated with patient survival. Conclusion: The expressions of NDRG1 and P21 in lung adenocarcinoma tissue were downregulated while VEGF expression was up-regulated. The joint detection of NDRG1, P21 and VEGF might provide some guiding significance to judge the prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma.
