Abstract:Constructive politics is an important concept to understand the present Chinese political life. Hegels philosophical analysis of modern politics and Marxs critical analysis of Hegels philosophy of right and modern politics itself can help us grasp the meaning of the concept of constructive politics. Although there are fundamental differences between the ethical life of Chinese and that of western civilization, the separation of civil society and political state that Hegel and Marx take as the common theoretical framework, would have an important methodological significance in the analysis of Chinese political tradition and its political reality at present. Hegels emphasis on the state and Marxs theory of civil society would be two basic dimensions of the concept of constructive politics, and Marxs theory of human emancipation indicates that we should pay great attention to not merely the existing and structural dimensions but also the historical and the procedural dimensions of constructive politics.
