Abstract:Pearl S. Bucks The Good Earth triology can be treated as an artistical whole although they were published at different times. They depict the desire, glory and dream of several generations of Chinese like Wang Lung, Wang the Tiger and Wang Yuan, outlining the running track and rising curve of traditional Chinas transition to modern China. Based on her longterm observation and understanding of Chinese society, Buck hid in her works a political cultural perspective from which the cause of Wang Lungs change into a landlord as he became rich, Wang the Tigers change into a warlord after revolution. Even the ideal character Wang Yuans psychological transformation in breaking the shackles of tradition was truly brought out. To sum up, Bucks imagination of Chinas past, obvervation of Chinas present and vision of Chinas future, to some extent, are more objective and just as well as forwardlooking and predictive. Her writing, therefore, should earn the status of “national allegory”, which offers us a value reference for us to introspect and surpass, and benefits the establishment of a harmonious society and the rejuvenation of the nation.
