Abstract For meeting the challenges posted by the era of knowledge economy, the British government pursues a series of postgraduate education reform strategies, aiming to enhance the capacity of national innovation and international competitiveness. Under the guidance of the idea of academic capitalism, the British government values the status of postgraduate education in the national innovation system, implements the enterprise management and establishes the international standards of evaluation, which expands the international influence of Britain postgraduate education through the brand building. Based on the analysis of the measures above, the authors attempt to promote the department of postgraduate education in China to make a positive and effective response to the challenges of the globalization.
