Abstract The idea of liberal education and related curricular module are the basic contents to facilitate university students in the time of globalization, and undergraduate school is the carrier or the basic form of liberal education. The paper presents the connotation, characteristics and the primary form of undergraduate school, summarizes the process of the creation, development, maturity and steadiness of the American undergraduate schools, illustrates the present situation of undergraduate schools in China, analyzes the problems existed, and finally proposes some suggestions and measures for the settlement of these problems.
