Abstract Internationalization of postgraduate education and its academic degree system are one of the most important factors to evaluate the development of the national higher education. Based on an analysis of the inadequacies in length of schooling, degree granting, funding channels and international exchange of Chinas postgraduate education and a comparison with European Higher Education Areas advanced experience in the above four aspect, the present article points out that in order to internationalize Chinas postgraduate education, we should “introduce new types of academic degree, follow the international norms in length of schooling”, “enhance international cooperation and exchange, improve funding system for overseas study”, and “normalize the degree program by accepting the international degree system”.
