Abstract The ultimate intention of inservice master education for tuitionfree normal students is to produce a large number of “threeheight” teachers. However, it is confronted with several predicaments including the contradictions between the teachers poverty at the initial stage of their career and the high education aim, between inservice learning and postgraduate education, between adult learners and their tutors, between the insufficiency of quality educational resources and the requirements from the education of the students. Therefore, inservice master education for tuitionfree normal students should be conducted in the demandoriented, practicerooted, studentcentered and Internetdominated way.
