Abstract: Entering the 21st century, some internal and external factors of higher education system has changed. Such factors as national strategic needs, digital learning, and students group characteristics have profound impacts on faculty development goal, means, methods and content. Some new trends of faculty development practice have appeared in America, Britain, Japan, Australia and other developed countries. The faculty development system which could cover the whole career stages and meet multilevel needs has been gradually built up.
