Study on the Growth of the American College Teacher Development Institution: Taking the Case of McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning in Princeton University

Abstract: McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning in Princeton University was established at the end of the 20th century. After that, the center has been strongly committed to supporting faculty members and instructors to improve themselves, to helping graduate students as teachers and professionals to begin their teaching practice, and to training undergraduates as learners and scholars to develop in an allaround way. According to this purpose, the center develops a variety of targeted activities to different objects covering faculty, graduate students, international students, undergraduates and faculty in community colleges. The various activities include individual counseling, classroom observation, workshops, all kinds of special service, and rich network resources. During the past 14 years, McGraw Center has developed rapidly, formed its own complete service system of teaching and learning and become a rising star among college teacher development institutions in the United States.
