Numerical simulation of wave process in Taihu Lake

Abstract:Based on SWAN model and three-dimensional current model, the wave and current in Taihu Lake are simulated and the influence of current on wave is studied. The results show that the SWAN model can simulate the processes of growth and propagation of the wave and current under the wind action. The flow field has a great influence on wave field and the influence becomes more significant with the increase of wind speed. Furthermore, wind direction also has effect on wave field. The influence of current on wave is more significant in coastal area. The detailed influences are described as that when current and wave have the same direction, such wave parameters as the significant wave height, wave speed, wave length, etc, will be enlarged and vice versa.
