Abstract: The effects of EGR rates of 0, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% on particle mass, particle size distribution and particle numbers of diesel engine with diesel of B0 and biodiesel of B50 and B100 were comparatively investigated by building the improved particle emission model and changing the intake ingredients. The effects of biodiesel blending with EGR on particle were also investigated. The results show that with the increasing of EGR rate, particle emission increases with a peak rate at 20% EGR rate, and the maximum concentration and the distribution area of particles in cylinder are increased. The particle size distribution is transferred from nuclear mode to aggregation mode and then back to nuclear mode, while the numbers of nuclear mode particles are firstly climbed with latter decline for higher EGR rate and biodiesel blend ratio. The numbers of nuclear mode particles are increased for higher biodiesel blend ratio at the same EGR rate, and the variation of aggregation mode particles appears an opposite trend.
