Abstract:Setting up some trendy selective courses in Chinas colleges and universities has caused controversies in society. From the perspective of their historical evolution, selective courses are meant to promote the allround, individualized and sustainable development of students. However, selective courses offered in Chinas institutions of higher learning have deviated from their original purpose in a sense. And in order to get rid of this value deviation, it is necessary to create a localized pattern for the settingup of selective courses by identifying human development as the core concept of the curriculum, democratizing and standardizing the coursesetting procedure, and laying emphasis on the integrity and reflectivity of the course creation.
