Abstract The graphene/CeO2 composites were prepared by hydrothermal method at different temperatures. The sample structures were analyzed by XRD, SEM, TEM, TG and UV-vis spectrometer, and the photocatalytic activity of the samples was evaluated by degradation of methylene orange dye under visible light. The results indicate that grapheme/CeO2 composite with high loading percentage and relatively small particle size of about 20 nm can be prepared at 140 ℃. The obtained photocatalyst shows excellent photocatalytic activity under visible light, which is mainly attributed to the enhanced optical absorption in the visible region and the improved separation ability of photogenerated charges.
