Abstract:To solve the problem of automobile steer by wire system without mechanical linkages between steering wheel and steered wheel, the proper steering control was applied to adjust the relationship between steered wheel angles and steering wheel angles based on vehicle driving status. The steering control with steer by wire system was analyzed to achieve structures, working principle and control objectives. Various steering control strategies for steer by wire system of steering ratio algorithm, vehicle stability control, four wheel steering control, path tracing control and steering motor control algorithm were presented, and various control methods of classical control method, robust control method, sliding mode control method, intelligent control method and fractional order PID control method were also analyzed. The test technologies of steering control were analyzed to provide application prospect and development trends of steer control. The results show that proper steering control with steer by wire system can improve vehicle stability and maneuverability.
