Lateral stability of tractor-semitrailer under non-typical lane-change

Abstract:Considering the limitations of car′s handling stability methods used in tractor trailer,some new methods and improvement measures for handling stability of tractor trailer under non-typical working conditions were discussed.System dynamics model for tractor-semitrailer was established.'S' lane-change under non-typical working conditions was simulated and analyzed.The responses to the changes of car′s body rolling angle and lateral acceleration in the relative tractor were revealed.The lateral stability of system was improved through the imposition of saddle damping moment.The simulation results show that it is effective to reduce yaw amplitude and shimmy frequency through damping torque.The reference for research on the handling stability of tractor-semitrailer under non-typical working conditions is provided.
