Abstract:The specific energy consumption of recompression for fibrous agricultural materials was determined by material characteristics and compression conditions. In order to investigate the effects of different factors on the specific energy of recompression, compression tests and analysis were conducted with different compression directions, initial densities and moisture contents. The results show that compression direction has slight effect on the specific energy. The minimum specific energy consumption can be obtained with an optimum initial density value for the same compressed volume. When compressed density is lower than 500 kg·m-3, the specific energy consumption has a positive relationship with compressed density. The specific energy is decreased with the increasing of moisture content in safe storage range.
