Abstract:To analyze the time-hopping(TH) impulse radio ultra wideband(UWB) transmission performance in the presence of multipath environment,a model for bit error rate(BER) analysis of UWB systems with coherent demodulation in the presence of multipath interference, multiple access interference and additive Gaussian white noise was proposed by analyzing the statistics of mulitpath channel models defined by the IEEE 802.15.3a Task Group.By exploiting the property of Poisson path arrivals, the exact BER formulation was derived utilizing the theory of probability. In order to verify this formulation, the calculated result was compared with those by computer simulation and by Caussian approximate approach in different channel models. The comparison results show that the method proposed matches computer simulations better than Caussian approximate approach and can readily be applied to the perfor-mance evaluation and system design of realistic channel models.
