Synthesis and characterization of block copolymer with cyclic triperoxonane

Abstract:The polymerization of styrene using cyclic triperoxoane-3,6,9-triethyl-3,6,9-trimethyl-1,4,7-triperoxoane(TETMTPA) as initiator was investigated and the polystyrene with peroxide(PSP) was obtained.The polystyrene-b-poly(methyl methacrylate) was prepared using the peroxide groups in PSP to initiate the second monomer methyl methacrylate.Using DSC,TG and GPC,the existence of peroxide groups in PSP and their position were confirmed.And the block copolymer was characterized with GPC,FTIR,NMR.The results show that the polystyrene-b-poly(methyl methacrylate) can be synthesized with TETMTPA.The content of peroxide groups in PSP and the molar ratio of PS and PMMA in copolymer are related to the reaction time
