Abstract:The calculation model of sample 186F diesel engine was established by AVLBOOST software, and the dates were required from the established calculation model by response surface methodology (RSM). The multiquadratic regression equation was established by the central composite design of experiment, variance analyses and significant tests of regression coefficients to ensure the fitting degree of the predictive model. The optimal valve timing was calculated by the response optimizer in Minitab software, and the verification experiment was conducted by the optimal valve timing. The results show that the intake valve close angle has the most obvious influence on the BSFC at the rated power of engine and with sequenced effect by the exhaust valve open angle. Volumetric efficiency and economy of the engine at high speed can be improved by increasing intake valve close angle, exhaust valve open angle and valve overlap angle properly. Compared with the original engine, the volumetric efficiency is increased with different extents when the engine speed is over 2 800 r·min-1, and the increasing rate is 4.88% at the rated power. The BSFC is also decreased with various degrees at different speeds, and it is reduced about 2.12% at the rated power.
