Dynamic response mechanism of exposed steel column base in
low and multistory steel frame structure

Abstract:To investigate the dynamic response mechanism of exposed steel column base in low and multistory steel frame structure, the model of slip hysteresis loop for exposed steel column base was defined with the consideration of the influence of varying axial force. The 13 low and multistory regular steel frame models were established based on the main research parameters of frame shape and strength factor of exposed steel column base. The dynamic response was analyzed by elasticplastic timehistory analysis. The results show that the first layer displacement angle is increased, while the second layer displacement angle is decreased with the decreasing of strength factor of exposed steel column base.When the strength factor of exposed steel column base is less than or equal to 0.6, the first floor deformation is centralized for 3layer model, while the distribution of the maximum layer displacement for 6layer model is nearly uniform. The plasticdeformation energy for 3layer model is centralized on the beam end of the first layer, and the distribution of plasticdeformation energy for 6layer model is nearly uniform. The hysteresis curve shape of dynamic response and the yield moment are consistent with those of the proposed slip hysteresis loop model for exposed steel column base.
