A novel vector control of sixphase induction
motor based on backstepping control algorithm

Abstract:To solve the slow response and poor robustness in traditional vector control(VC), considering the characteristics of space vector decoupling of sixphase motor, a novel VC of sixphase induction motor was proposed based on backstepping control algorithm. The mathematical model of motors was established, and the new virtual voltage balance vector was used to determine the space voltage vector pulse width modulation. The backstepping principle was adopted to design the backstepping controller for replacing the traditional PI controller, and the tracking of the induction motor for the given signals was realized to guarantee the global stability of system. The system was verified by the simulation in MATLAB/Simulink, and the simulation result was compared with that of PID control method. The results show that the strategy has the advantages of rapid response, high control precision and strong antiinterference ability with improved stator current waveform, and the efficiency of system design is proved.
