Abstract:To investigate the temperature field characteristics of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) under different frequency electric and power generation conditions, a 50 kW marine PMSM was analyzed. Based on computational fluid dynamics and numerical heat transfer theory, a 3D fluid flow and heat transfer model was set up, and the temperature and fluid field of PMSM was simulated numerically by the finite volume method (FVM) under frequency control and generating conditions. The calculation result of coupled field was verified by comparing with the test value to analyze the heat transfer characteristics. The distribution of temperature rise inner the stator and rotor under frequency control and generation conditions was analyzed to reveal the changing regularity of temperature rise for PMSM. The results provide a theory basis for the design of motor structure and cooling system of PMSM.
