Abstract:In order to improve the ductility of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, a 2-step simulation method was proposed to numerically simulate the theoretical bistable stress-strain behavior. Finite element models of the bistable FRP wrapping layer and the entire bistable FRP confined column were analyzed respectively, and the theoretical bistable stress-strain curve was compared with the experiment results. A new stress-strain model for bistable confined concrete was proposed after a serial of parameter analyses. According to the verification, it is concluded that the proposed model is very accurate and stable to predict the entire stress-strain behavior of bistable confined concrete.
