Abstract:Through finite element method, the dynamic characteristics and the seismic response analysis of an 800 mspan cablestayed suspension bridge with CFRP cables were conducted to compare with those of the bridge in the same structural arrangement with steel cables. The results show that the vibration frequencies of span cablestayed suspension bridge range from 0.1 to 0.7 Hz, and the vibration mode is significantly threedimensional and mutually coupled. The natural frequencies of the cablestayed suspension bridge with CFRP cables are larger than those of the bridge with steel cables, which means that CFRP cables can help resisting low frequency excitation. By the seismic waves, the displacement of cablestayed suspension bridge with CFRP cables is similar to that of bridge with steel cables, while the internal force of bridge with CFRP cables is smaller than that of bridge with steel cables. The CFRPcable bridge has certain advantages in the decay of response.
