Abstract:To investigate the influence of winding ways, several kinds of glass fiber reinforced plastic(GFRP) bar with different winding ways were prepared with bar diameters of 6,8,10,12,14 and 16 mm and rib spacing of 10,20 and 30 mm. The entanglements were nylon rope, a layer of glass fiber bundles and two layers of glass fiber bundles. The tensile, compression and shear experiments were conducted. Based on the test phenomenon and database, the influence and the mechanism of winding ways were discussed. The results illustrate that the winding way has marked influence on tensile property for small rib spacing. When the diameter is small, the shear and compressive properties of GFRP bars with glass fiber bundles on surface are improved obviously.
