Proportioning design and functional properties of super microsurfacing

Abstract:For the purpose of designing highperformance super microsurfacing, six kinds of additives and eight kinds of fillers were added to the two kinds of ion emulsified asphalt, and the optimum content was determined. To further investigate the road performance of super microsurfacing materials, the tests were carried out to analyze the properties of skid resistance, snow melting, noise reduction and wear resistance, and the water resistance property was evaluated by softening coefficient . The results show that the emulsion performance is optimal when the contents of suspension agent, thickener, toughening agent, film forming agent, wetting agent and SBS latex are 5.0%, 2.0%, 20.0%, 15.0%, 0.6% and 15.0%, respectively. With overlaying the super microsurfacing material, the pavement structure depth is reduced, and the friction coefficient is increased obviously with almost homogeneous melting salt at 0 ℃ for 100.0 h in watersaturation and decreased noise by 2.4 to 2.8 dB. The wet wheel wear and the load abrasion are decreased significantly. The skid resistance, snow melting, noise reduction and wear resistance properties of original pavement are improved significantly. Compared with the original pavement, the softening coefficient of pavement with overlaying super microsurfacing material under saturated water condition for 100 h can reach 86.3%, which shows that the material has excellent water resistance property.
