Abstract:Considering the liquefied sand soil as Newtonian fluid and shearthinning nonNewtonian fluid respectively, the volume of fluid (VOF) method in computational fluid dynamics was adopted to investigate the free flow deformation morphology of postliquefied sand. The effects of viscosity, consistency coefficient and flow index on the flow deformation characteristics were analyzed. Compared with the physical model test, the results show that the proposal method can well reproduce the flow deformation shape of the model test, but the fluid properties have great influence on the velocity of flow deformation. When the liquefied sand is considered as Newtonian fluid, the increasing of consistency coefficient, the resist deformation ability is increased with decreased flow deformation velocity. When the liquefied sand is regarded as shearthinning fluid, with the increasing of consistency coefficient, the flow index is decreased, and the integral flow deformation velocity of liquefied sand is also decreased.
