Abstract:To realize the intelligent control on the braking torque of a self-excited retarder, the excitation current was taken as a reference for dividing the braking torque gear. Taking SCR's conduction angle as a control object, the control method of the braking torque was presented. The theoretical driving circuit of an excitation coil and the trigger circuit of SCR's conduction angle were discussed. The caculation formu- lae of SCR's conduction angle in various working conditions and the discriminant functions of the highest gear in low speed were deduced based on the sequence diagram of SCR's conduction angle. After verifi- cation by experiment, the control method basically achieves the real-time and accurate control on braking torque. This would lay a theoretical basis for realizing intelligent control on the braking torque of a self- excited retarder.
