Recognition algorithm of wireless communication signal modulation
based on harmonic mean fractal box dimension

Abstract:To quickly and effectively recognize the modulated signal under the condition of spectrum coexistence in unlicensed frequency band at low SNR, the function of kurtosis harmonic was constructed based on fractal theory, and a new wireless communication signal modulation recognition method was proposed according to harmonic average fractal box dimension. The received signal was preprocessed by Hilbert transform to extract box dimension and kurtosis parameters, and the two parameters were averaged to form characteristic parameters of the average fractal box dimension. The decision tree theory was used to classify and identify signals. The simulation of 4 wireless communication signals of WiFi(802.11a) was conducted by Matlab. The results show that the proposed method achieves 80% recognition rate of wireless communication signals to WiFi (802.11a) at low SNR of-5 dB, which is much higher than that of traditional algorithm. The new method has low complexity and feature robustness and is suitable for engineering application.
