Abstract:With the considerations of implosive and catalytic characteristics of Brown gas, a lightduty vehicle with diesel engine was chosen as research object. To investigate the effect of Brown gas on the emission of lightduty vehicle under accelerating operation, the Brown gas was taken into the intake manifold of diesel engine to participate the combustion. On the transfer hub test bench, the emissions of NOx, THC and CO were tested under accelerating process with or without Brown gas. The results show that NOx decreases by 4.8% with unchanged THC, and CO increases by 5.6% when the speed accelerates from 13 km·h-1 to 27 km·h-1. When the speed accelerates from 23 km·h-1to 40 km·h-1, NOx decreases by 4.1% with still unchanged THC, and CO increases by 4.0%. When the speed is accelerated from 40 km·h-1 to 62 km·h-1, NOx, THC and CO are reduced by 8.1%, 5.3% and 3.0%, respectively.
