Abstract:The threedimensional geometric model of the rotating ring was established by Pro/E software. The liquid film pressure achieved from Fluent software was imported into Ansys Workbench as boundary condition of rotating ring for oneway fluidsolid coupling calculation. The comparison analysis of carbongraphite, SiC, WC and structural steel was carried out by finite element method under different operating conditions. The results show that the maximum deformation occurs at the end of spiral groove in the rotating ring, while the maximum stress occurs on the back stairs of the moving ring seal. The maximum deformation and stress are almost not affected by the rotating speed, but influenced obviously by the media pressure with linear increasing trend. Carbongraphite is not suitable as moving ring material, and on condition that it meets other requirements, the SiC is proior material.
