Abstract:The transient aerodynamic characteristics of SAE 1/4 standard vehicle model were studied for the cars crossing each other. With the method of transient computational fluid dynamics and the technology of sliding interface the transient flow field of crossing vehicles was simulated. Under the state law for the distance between the two crossing vehicles being one vehicle width equivalent, the vehicle drag, lift and side force aerodynamic coefficients were calculated. By analyzing the static pressure on the section plane of the flow field and the surface pressure distribution of the SAE model, the vehicle transient aerodynamic characteristics when crossing each other were summarized.
