The value of serum lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 levels in screening patients with early asymptomatic diabetic peripheral neuropathy |

Abstract Objective: To investigate the value of the serum lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2(LpPLA2) levels in the diagnosis and screening of early asymptomatic diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN). Methods: A total of 89 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes less than 12 months were divided into DPN group and nonDPN group according to neural electromyography. The diagnostic value of LpPLA2 by diagnostic test and ROC curve analysis were evaluated and the appropriate cutoff point were determined. Results: The level of serum LpPLA2 of DPN group was significantly lower than that of nonDPN group (t=-3.772, P=0.000).The area under curve(AUC) of LpPLA2 was 0.731(P=0.001). The appropriate cutoff point was 133.50 ng/mL. Conclusion: Serum LpPLA2 levels could predict DPN, but which still need further to be validated in larger sample research.
