Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of Epstein-Barr virus-encoded BARF1 gene on the nuclear translocation of NF-κB and bcl-2 expression in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. Methods: Fluorescence antibody staining and Western blot were separately performed to analyze the nuclear translocation of NFκB and bcl-2 expression in BARF1-stably-expressing human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line CNE1 (CEN1-BARF1) under the control of pSG5 vector transfected one (CEN1-SG). Results: Compared with the control, the nuclear translocation of NF-κB was significantly induced, and bcl-2 expression was significantly increased in CEN1-BARF1. And both were blocked by the specific inhibitor of NF-κB Bay11-7082. Conclusion: BARF1 gene upregulated bcl-2 expression through activating NF-κB signaling pathway in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells.
