Abstract Although Karl Marx never gave a clear definition nor a systematic explanation of happiness, it is obvious that we can clearly see his ideas of happiness in the theory of historical materialism, which has become the theoretical paradigm of Marxs thoughts of happiness. It is in the theoretical paradigm of historical materialism that Marx reveals: the productivity is the material force of happiness; the proletariat has to realize their own happiness by themselves, and the struggle is the realistic way to realize their happiness; happiness is a historical practice category.
