Abstract:On the occasion of the University of Pittsburgh Honors Convocation, April 6,1960, Pearl S. Buck delivered an address titled “The Delights of Learning”. In the speech, she talked about her love of learning and the great delights through it on the basis of her early education in China and her personal experiences. She believed that the learned people should get the most respect, and they are also superior people with morality. Meanwhile, she hoped that people from different countries could have more equitable opportunities for learning, so that more knowledge would be shared and more people will experience the delights of learning.
