Abstract:Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels's justice thoughts are an important part of the Marxist theoretical system. They explicate their justice thoughts on the basis of criticizing the justice thoughts of the capitalist class and utopian socialists. The justice thoughts of capitalist class and utopian socialists stem from the western thoughts and tradition of justice, which were criticized and inherited by Marx and Engels who in turn formulate their own justice thoughts. So, it is necessary to grasp the development thread of the western justice thoughts to understand Marx and Engels's criticism on the capitalist justice thoughts and then accurately grasp the core of their justice thoughts. In addition, clarifying some longstanding controversies about Marx and Engels's view on justice held by the western scholars can better explore the meaning their justice thoughts.
